Confusing Reaction from UK’s SME
This week I have tweeted two conflicting reports about how SMEs are reacting to the UK’s decision to leave the EU and whether they think it will hold their business back or not. Quite frankly I’m confused and so by the looks of it are you.
On the 8th August I tweeted a report of doom and gloom over our SMEs growth expectation and how economic and political uncertainty was taking its toll in Q2.
And then on the 10th August things looked a lot brighter as I tweeted on another report which looked at a survey commissioned by foreign exchange and payments business, OFX which found SMEs reacting to a weak domestic market by looking elsewhere for their customers and even “embracing Brexit as an opportunity” it reported that of those asked a huge 62% of SME owners thought their businesses would be better off by leaving the EU.
Navigating around Uncertainty
It appears that there is only one thing we can be certain of and that’s uncertainty. This is a huge stumbling block for any SME with major growth aspirations. Knowing what you don’t know is key to trying to navigate your business around this uncertainty and that’s why NXD would like to invite you to our event on the 14th September “International Trade – A Brave New World” This event will provide insights from presenters from the UK, Germany, Ireland and Portugal and an opportunity to find out where the UK really is positioned in this “Brave New World”
We look forward to seeing you there
