Michelle Plaisted’s career has spanned 20 years covering banking, sales, coaching, consultancy, recruitment and latterly focusing on HR and Talent; the common factor always being to view things from a commercial mind-set.
After starting her career in retail banking Michelle subsequently moved into the recruitment industry with a focus on business development and in particular turning around under performing teams and divisions; this led to a transfer to the Australia and Asia Pacific region.
On her subsequent return to the UK she worked across various industries, including Financial Services and Management Consultancy, as both a consultant and as part of the Senior Leadership Team; covering a Global remit and in particular emerging markets as well as Europe, the Middle East and the US. Michelle conducted many process improvement projects with this becoming something of a speciality and although not necessarily the most glamorous of remits it can often prove critical to business success. Her roles and expertise included the set up and establishment of international Recruitment, HR and Talent functions, offshore centres in India and Malaysia, outsourcing to RPOs, and responsibility for creating new international office locations.
Having worked for large corporates she wanted to work in a more entrepreneurial, fast paced environment and therefore made the decision to move to a specialist ultra high net worth payments and luxury brand SME. As Global HR Director she conducted a Group wide organisational redesign and established the HR and Talent Function, including performance management processes and a group wide benefits and pension scheme. As a member of the board, she also led the set up of a new European Financial Institution as well as various new business ventures including an MVNO, Healthcare Product and online luxury shopping portal.
Michelle’s aim now is to use her experience and expertise to provide fresh thinking, innovative, practical ideas for businesses who share her belief that there needs to be a different approach to the many traditional aspects of HR and are looking for a resilient approach to their people issues.
