Caroline Emery is a growth focused strategist with a strong record of achievement in senior executive and advisory roles within both multinationals and SMEs across diverse sectors and geographies. She has had success in driving turnaround and organic growth through strategic insight, marketing expertise deployment, a focus on building organisational capabilities, and development of strategic partnerships to lead market entry. Caroline operated at Executive (EMEA) team level at American Express for eleven years. She is ready to bring a wealth of commercial, marketing and business development experience to SME’s in a Non-Executive Director capacity.

Caroline has a track record in P&L, functional leadership and consultancy roles as well as a deep understanding of the drivers of success across financial services including payments and retail banking, the affluent sector and professional services. She has successfully turned around businesses and has experience of leading retrenchment and rightsizing: as General Manager International Dollar Card, she led transformation of a declining business to grow rapidly to PTI in excess of $17m.

She rapidly yet precisely evaluate the commercial viability of acting on new opportunities in synergy with overarching strategies. She draws on her commercial experience assessing the business plans of SME clients, and of partners at American Express. She has a strong record of developing and executing against go-to-market strategies, devising product strategy and managing multi-country launches. Caroline is passionate about developing customer focused, innovative solutions to increase profitability, expand market share and enhance product portfolios, whilst ensuring compliance with best practice and market regulation.

Throughout her career she has led strategic assessments in order to open new markets and led business development; extending penetration of key markets and increasing market share by building proprietary businesses or developing partnerships. She launched American Express corporate card across Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as multiple (30+) consumer payment products in EMEA markets.

She has considerable insight within B2B, B2C and B2B2C marketing. Her experience spans digital marketing, brand strategy, product development, customer acquisition, customer retention and brand communications. Her expertise includes transferrable marketing best practices that are proven to work. She enjoys coaching to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of marketing strategy development and delivery.
