John Pownall

John is a Consultant and Non-Executive Director with wide ranging experience in business services and manufacturing.

Over 30 years of experience owning and running a large number of successful companies in the UK and overseas has provided a depth of experience which he brings to all clients.

Originally trained and working in finance and then sales and marketing with two of the UK’s leading blue chip manufacturing companies, John has experience of industry-leading approaches, processes and practice.

John’s sales leadership skills were developed in the engineering sector in which he led sales activities in the UK, Europe and Africa with Babcock International before moving into General Management roles in the UK and Europe.

Having led trade sales of companies he owned and multi–million pound corporate acquisitions, John has skills, judgment and expertise to assist all clients in achieving their own company goals and objectives. This is an experienced business leader who has built businesses, integrated brands, led multi -disciplinary teams and turned failing companies into successes.

Equally at home in the manufacturing and business service sectors , John’s experience has included family owned businesses (where he still holds Non Executive roles), UK based SME’s and multinationals and overseas based Groups. John has worked with high tech companies in electronic security as well as a range of service providers to the retail and construction sectors.

His insight and advice to the boards of companies he works with is invaluable and will quickly cut through the real issues facing an organization to move it forward – sales performance, product alignment, cash flow control, people development and business strategy.

In his own consultancy work he operates with many smaller companies to use his extensive experience to solve their problems and exploit fresh opportunities to grow their businesses and profits.
