Matthew Berman

An experienced operations, managing and non-executive director with genuine ability to identify business growth areas and the systems required to implement. A people person, comfortable in a variety of backgrounds, equally at home with Boards of Directors and staff bodies of small to medium sized, (and family), businesses as well as national, corporate entities.

Matthew’s background is in education and training where he has many years of practical, senior level experience and regularly contributes at board level. He continues to provide solutions to many complex issues that effect organisations in the education / training sector.

Matthew has worked for Plan B Independent School for over four years. As its General Manager he took over responsibility for running all operational aspects of the organisation. Matthew effected a premises re-location, opened a second centre to service new business with a large number of local authority clients he had developed and was responsible for winning two major contracts through his successful bid writing. Through this work Matthew largely took Plan B from being a South London based organisation through to a ‘Pan-London’ school.

Since September 2015, when he was invited onto Plan B Independent School’s Board as Operations Director, Matthew has been developing strategic sales and marketing tools to further the organisation’s outputs and profile whilst maintaining operational accountability and line management of the Headteacher. Matthew provides strategic advice to the Board in areas of: – ‘target / budget setting, quality, risk management, revenue analysis and long-term business models and pricing.

Matthew is a Non-Executive Director of Schools, Courses, Career Development where he consults on the following: – new premises to meet organisational growth, lease negotiation, staff re-structure, business diversification, HR / CRM solutions and management accounts. Matthew has also been given responsibility for formulating long-term business exit strategies through merger or sell.

Matthew is a Board Adviser for L D Training providing regular consultation in areas of change management, long-term business planning, building efficiency models into existing processes and offering impartial advice and support. Matthew has delivered training days for staff in the area of effecting positive change.

Matthew is interested in assisting established SMEs at various transition stages looking to actualise long-term growth and development. He provides support in areas such as Quality, Sales, Marketing, Branding, Partnerships, Finance, Logistics, I.T, Crisis / Change / Risk Management, Staff Training, Strategic Planning, Business Development and Operational Management.
