Peter Richards
NXD Non-Exec

A skilled business leader with experience of scaling technology businesses and used to handling demanding assignments in challenging financial climates. He has founded and managed start-ups and early stage organisations and has also held senior positions in a number of technology leaders. He is a trusted advisor to business owners (typically £2-10 million turnover) looking to get it ‘right first time’ where his hands-on knowledge of creating the right climate for growth and scalability have provided significant value.

Having spent 25 years with corporate technology providers in senior management positions he left to start his first business for which he created and executed the business plan and IPO’d a few years later – absorbing and learning multiple lessons and disciplines throughout the whole process. He has built management teams in sales, marketing, finance and operations and is a skilled coach and mentor to business owners and board level directors. Over a long and successful career he has held executive positions with public and venture backed international organisations and is well used to the rigours of delivering revenue numbers and achieving milestones against difficult targets.

He has excellent sales and presentation skills, which have been honed over many years of delivering significant results in the harshest of financial climates. These skills have been well utilised throughout his career during which he has founded and managed innovative software businesses. His involvement with new (and old) technologies has given him a broad appreciation and understanding of their application and how to maximise revenue streams with different business models.

He has a keen entrepreneurial spirit and has structured and sourced venture funding through to exit. He has very strong leadership, management and communications skills and has an acute sense of what is needed to sustain and scale profitable businesses.

In his spare time he is a keen cyclist (mountain & road), acoustic guitarist and rugby enthusiast (now only from the side-lines although is a qualified youth and mini-rugby coach) and lives in Surrey.
