Served as a career police officer, a graduate of its accelerated promotion scheme and retired as a Deputy Assistant Commissioner with 27 years’ exemplary service. The Metropolitan Police Service (MPS – New Scotland Yard, London) is the largest UK police force. Because of its size and complexity the MPS is unique in its chief officers having functional responsibility allowing a depth of expertise. COO equivalent in one of the MPS’s four operational business groups (£200m: 3,000 staff): business continuity and 2012 security, specialist resources for the transport network, major incidents and public order events, firearms incidents. Member of MPS Risk Committee and Deputised at MPS Board.
